NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier)
An NVOCC is a carrier that operates no ships of its own but buys space from shipping lines and resells it to shippers under its own house B/L. Towards the shipper it acts as the carrier; towards the line it is the shipper on the master B/L. The model is common for LCL and small shippers who need consolidation and competitive rates. Check its reputation, agent network and liability insurance.
