Port of Loading (POL)
The port of loading (POL) is the port where cargo is loaded onto the main ocean vessel named on the B/L, for example Tanjung Priok (IDTPP) or Tanjung Perak (IDSUB). It differs from the place of receipt, where the carrier takes charge of the goods, which may be an inland warehouse or depot. The choice of POL affects trucking cost, sailing schedules, cut-off times and whether the service is direct or via transshipment.
