About this calculator
3PL warehouse quotes are rarely comparable as they stand. One warehouse charges per pallet per day, another per pallet per month, some rent per m² of floor, and general cargo warehouses often use per m³. On top of storage come handling in (unloading, checking, put-away) and handling out (picking, loading), a monthly admin or WMS fee, value-added services such as labelling and stretch wrap, and a minimum charge when your volume is small.
This calculator puts all of those parts into one calculation. Choose the rate basis, enter the average quantity stored (pallets, m² or m³), the storage time in days and the rate. Monthly bases are prorated per 30 days; daily bases are counted per day. Add the units in and out with their handling rates, the monthly admin fee and any VAS cost. When storage falls below the minimum, the calculator uses the minimum and flags it.
The result is the total for the period, a breakdown per component, and the cost per stored unit and per unit per month, the right figures for comparing two quotes on different bases. If you rent by m² but think in pallets, first work out how many pallets fit per m² with the warehouse capacity calculator, then compare per pallet.
Worked example
120 pallets stored for 30 days at Rp2,500 per pallet-day, handling in and out at Rp15,000 per pallet each for 120 pallets, admin Rp250,000 per month:
- Storage: 120 × 30 × 2,500 = Rp9,000,000
- Handling: 120 × 15,000 × 2 = Rp3,600,000
- Admin: Rp250,000
- Total: Rp12,850,000, or Rp107,083 per pallet for 30 days
Without handling, the rate equals Rp75,000 per pallet-month; handling lifts the effective cost by more than 40%.
How to use it
Choose the rate basis
Pick per pallet-day, pallet-month, m²-month or m³-month to match the warehouse's quote.
Enter storage and rate
Enter the average quantity stored, storage days, the rate and any minimum charge.
Add handling and other costs
Fill in units in and out with their handling rates, the monthly admin fee and value-added services.
Compare quotes
Read the total, the breakdown and the cost per unit per month; repeat with another basis to compare warehouses.
