FEFO (First Expired, First Out)

In Indonesian: FEFO (kedaluwarsa pertama, keluar pertama) Abbreviation: FEFO

FEFO is a stock rotation rule where goods with the nearest expiry date are shipped first, regardless of when they arrived. It matters for food, beverages, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. FEFO requires batch numbers and expiry dates to be recorded per pallet or carton, usually with a WMS and barcodes. For reefer cargo, batch data also helps traceability if a temperature excursion occurs.

  • Reefer Container

A reefer is an insulated container with its own refrigeration unit for frozen or chilled cargo such as fish, meat and fruit.

  • Warehouse Management System (WMS)

A WMS is software that runs warehouse operations: receiving, putaway to rack locations, order picking, packing and dispatch.

  • SKU (Stock Keeping Unit)

An SKU is the unique code for each item variant a warehouse manages, such as a combination of product, size, colour and pack.
