The decree lists JPY per 100 yen; here every rate is normalised to rupiah per 1 unit.

Tax rates are used for import duty, VAT, luxury tax and income tax; for buying or selling currency, use a bank rate.

About this calculator

The tax exchange rate (kurs pajak) is the rate set every week by the Indonesian Minister of Finance as the basis for paying import duty, export duty, VAT, luxury tax and income tax. It differs from Bank Indonesia's middle rate or your bank's rate: it is published in a Minister of Finance Decree (KMK) and applies for one week, usually Wednesday to the following Tuesday. For imports, the foreign-currency CIF value on the import declaration is converted to rupiah at the tax rate valid on the registration date, so this rate sets the customs value and the levies.

This page shows the latest tax rate period for every currency listed in the decree, with the KMK number as the source and the validity dates. The data is fetched automatically every week from the Ministry of Finance publication. Search for a currency, then use the converter to turn a foreign amount into rupiah, rupiah into a foreign currency, or one foreign currency into another through rupiah.

Important: for JPY the decree shows rupiah per 100 yen; on this page every rate is normalised to rupiah per 1 unit of currency for consistency. Tax rates are for tax and customs purposes only; for buying or selling currency, use your bank's rate. Always check the official decree before filling in customs documents, especially when your transaction date falls in another period.

Worked example

With illustrative rates of USD Rp16,000, EUR Rp18,500 and JPY Rp105 per 1 yen:

  • USD 100 → 100 × 16,000 = Rp1,600,000
  • EUR 100 → USD: 100 × 18,500 ÷ 16,000 = USD 115.625
  • JPY 10,000 → 10,000 × 105 = Rp1,050,000 (the decree shows Rp10,500 per 100 yen)

A currency that is not listed in the decree cannot be converted and shows as empty. These figures are examples only; the table above shows the official rates for the current period.

How to use it

  1. Check the validity period

See the KMK number and date range; make sure your declaration or transaction date falls within it.

  2. Find the currency

Type a currency code (e.g. USD, CNY, JPY) to filter the tax rate table.

  3. Convert an amount

Enter the amount, choose the source and target currencies (IDR included) and read the result and cross rate.

Frequently asked questions

How does the tax rate differ from the Bank Indonesia rate?
The Bank Indonesia rate (JISDOR or BI transaction rate) changes daily and serves as a market reference. The tax rate is set weekly by the Minister of Finance specifically for tax and customs calculations, so it can differ slightly.
Which date’s tax rate applies to an import declaration?
The rate in force on the registration date of the import declaration (or the payment date where the rules say so). If your declaration is registered next week, use the rate from that period’s decree.
Why is JPY shown per 1 yen?
The decree lists JPY per 100 yen. So that every currency is handled the same way, this page divides that figure by 100, and the rate shown is rupiah per 1 yen.
How often is the data updated?
The system checks the Ministry of Finance publication every week and stores the new period as soon as the decree is out. If this week’s decree is not out yet, the page shows the latest available period with its dates.
How is a cross rate between two foreign currencies calculated?
Through rupiah: amount × tax rate of the source currency ÷ tax rate of the target currency. With illustrative rates of EUR Rp18,500 and USD Rp16,000: EUR 100 = Rp1,850,000 = USD 115.625.
