About this calculator
A packing list is the physical breakdown of a shipment: how many packages, what each contains, net and gross weights, dimensions and marks. Customs uses it for physical inspection, the forwarder for booking space and rating, the receiving warehouse for checking the goods in, and the bank when payment is by letter of credit. Its figures must agree with the commercial invoice, the export or import declaration and the bill of lading; mismatched weights or package counts are a common cause of extra inspections and L/C discrepancies.
This generator builds a clean packing list from the data you enter. The header holds shipper, consignee, notify party, invoice number and date, vessel or flight, ports of loading and discharge, and the shipping marks. Each line has a description, an optional HS code, the number and type of packages, pieces per package, net and gross weight per package and outer dimensions. The tool works out total packages, total pieces, total net weight, total gross weight and total CBM automatically, and warns you when a gross weight is lower than the net weight.
The result downloads as an Excel file (.xlsx) you can keep editing, or prints to an A4 PDF through the browser print dialog. Everything is processed in your browser and nothing is stored on a server; the share link keeps your entries in the URL, so share it only with authorised parties.
Worked example
Two goods lines:
- 100 cartons 50 × 40 × 30 cm, 12 pcs each, 10 kg net and 11 kg gross per carton → 6 m³, 1,200 pcs, 1,000 kg net, 1,100 kg gross
- 2 pallets 120 × 100 × 150 cm, 400 kg net and 450 kg gross each → 3.6 m³, 800 kg net, 900 kg gross
Totals: 102 packages, 1,200 pcs, net weight 1,800 kg, gross weight 2,000 kg, volume 9.6 m³. These are the figures for the totals block of the packing list, and they must match the B/L.
