Customs Broker (PPJK)

In Indonesian: PPJK (Pengusaha Pengurusan Jasa Kepabeanan) Abbreviation: PPJK

A PPJK is a business licensed by Indonesian customs to handle customs formalities on behalf of an importer or exporter, such as filing the PIB or PEB and attending physical inspections. Many also act as freight forwarders. A broker makes the process easier, but the accuracy of data such as value, tariff line and origin still depends on what the cargo owner provides. Check the broker's licence and the scope of the power of attorney before appointing one.

  • Freight Forwarder

A freight forwarder organises shipments on behalf of cargo owners: booking ship or aircraft space, arranging trucking, documents, insurance and LCL consolidation.

  • Import Declaration (PIB, BC 2.0)

The PIB is the customs declaration for goods imported for domestic use, form code BC 2.0.

  • Export Declaration (PEB, BC 3.0)

The PEB is the customs export declaration, form code BC 3.0, governed among others by PMK No.

  • Customs Channel (Red, Yellow, Green)

The customs channel is the risk-based routing of an import or export declaration that decides how much checking it gets.
