Fumigation
Fumigation is treating cargo, packaging or a container with a pesticide gas, such as methyl bromide or phosphine, in an enclosed space to kill pests. It is often required for agricultural commodities and evidenced by a fumigation certificate. A fumigated container must carry a warning mark on its doors under the IMDG Code and be ventilated before anyone enters. Never open or enter a container marked as fumigated without gas testing.
