KIR Test (Periodic Roadworthiness Test)

In Indonesian: Uji KIR (uji berkala kendaraan) Abbreviation: KIR

The KIR test, or periodic test, is the mandatory roadworthiness inspection for goods vehicles, held every 6 months under PP No. 55 of 2012. Results go into a test book or card listing the vehicle's dimensions, curb weight, JBB, JBI and axle configuration. For load planners, the KIR record is the official source that should replace any catalogue default. A vehicle whose body differs from its KIR data risks being treated as ODOL at inspection.

  • Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (JBB)

JBB, the Indonesian gross vehicle weight rating, is the maximum weight of a vehicle plus its load as designed by the manufacturer and type-approved, as set out in PP No.

  • Permitted Gross Weight (JBI)

JBI, the permitted gross weight, is the maximum weight of a vehicle plus load allowed on the class of road it travels.

  • ODOL (Over Dimension Over Load)

ODOL is the Indonesian term for goods vehicles whose dimensions exceed their type approval (over dimension) or whose weight exceeds JBI or JBB (over load).

  • CDD Truck (Double)

A CDD truck is a two-axle truck with six tyres, meaning twin wheels on the rear axle.
