ODOL (Over Dimension Over Load)

Abbreviation: ODOL

ODOL is the Indonesian term for goods vehicles whose dimensions exceed their type approval (over dimension) or whose weight exceeds JBI or JBB (over load). Enforcement happens at UPPKB weighbridges and through normalisation of modified bodies. Law 22/2009 sets penalties, among others for altering vehicle dimensions without approval and for breaking load rules; check the official text. Zero ODOL targets and enforcement stages have changed over time, so check the latest Ministry of Transportation policy.

  • Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (JBB)

JBB, the Indonesian gross vehicle weight rating, is the maximum weight of a vehicle plus its load as designed by the manufacturer and type-approved, as set out in PP No.

  • Permitted Gross Weight (JBI)

JBI, the permitted gross weight, is the maximum weight of a vehicle plus load allowed on the class of road it travels.

  • Axle Load

Axle load is the share of vehicle and cargo weight carried by one axle.

  • KIR Test (Periodic Roadworthiness Test)

The KIR test, or periodic test, is the mandatory roadworthiness inspection for goods vehicles, held every 6 months under PP No.

  • Road Class

A road class sets the maximum vehicle dimensions and axle load allowed on a road.
