Jambi (Talang Duku)
Kabupaten Muaro Jambi, Jambi
About the port
Talang Duku Port is in Talang Duku village, Taman Rajo district, Muaro Jambi Regency, on the Batanghari River not far from Jambi city. Like Palembang, it is a river port: ships follow the Batanghari channel from Sumatra's east coast before berthing.
The port falls under PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 2. Containers are handled by IPC TPK, a Pelindo Terminal Petikemas subsidiary, while non-container cargo is handled by PTP Nonpetikemas of the Pelindo Multi Terminal group. Cargo flows include plantation commodities and processed goods from Jambi as well as supplies from Java.
The UN/LOCODE recorded for Jambi is IDDJB. Because the river channel limits vessel size, container services here generally use domestic feeder ships linked to Tanjung Priok or other hubs. For exports, allow for transhipment time and make sure export documents are ready before the container is loaded so it is not held at the transit port. Shippers in the region can compare routing via Talang Duku with trucking to other ports to find the most efficient option for the volume and schedule they need.
