IDDJJ Indonesia Seaport Airport

Jayapura

Jayapura, Papua

About the port

Jayapura Port lies on Yos Sudarso Bay in the capital of Papua province, not far from the border with Papua New Guinea. It is the main gateway for cargo to northern Papua and a distribution point for staples, building materials and consumer goods for the city and nearby regencies.

The port is managed by PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 4, and containers are handled at TPK Jayapura, operated by Pelindo Terminal Petikemas. Most cargo arrives from Surabaya, Jakarta and Makassar on domestic container services, including vessels that call at several other Papuan ports in one rotation.

Jayapura's UN/LOCODE is IDDJJ, listed by UNECE with port, road, airport and postal functions. Because the voyage from Java is long and sailings are less frequent than on western routes, transit times can run to weeks. Plan stock and ordering with enough buffer, especially before public holidays when demand for space rises. For perishables, consider reefer containers and make sure power is ready at the receiving end. Careful load calculation also pays off, because the cost per container on eastern routes is relatively high.
