Tanjung Perak (Surabaya)
Surabaya, Jawa Timur
About the port
Tanjung Perak in Surabaya is East Java's main port and one of the most important hubs for inter-island cargo to Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Nusa Tenggara and Papua. The port is managed by PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 3, while its terminals are run by several entities within the Pelindo group.
Containers, both international and domestic, are handled by TPS (Terminal Petikemas Surabaya) and PT Terminal Teluk Lamong. Teluk Lamong sits in Benowo on Surabaya's western edge next to Gresik, and since 2024–2025 it has also operated TPK Nilam and TPK Berlian. The Jamrud, Nilam and Mirah quays for general cargo, bulk and passengers fall under Pelindo Multi Terminal. This split matters because domestic services often berth at a different terminal from international ones.
The UN/LOCODE in use is IDSUB (Surabaya), which UNECE lists with port, rail, road, airport, postal and multimodal functions. Shippers from East Java's industrial estates usually choose Tanjung Perak for direct exports or transhipment via Singapore and Port Klang. When planning a load, confirm the destination terminal, the closing schedule and the gross weight limits that apply to trucks on the roads into the port.
