Pantoloan (Palu)

Pantoloan Port is in Tawaeli district, Palu city, on the eastern side of Palu Bay in Central Sulawesi. The long, sheltered bay makes Pantoloan the province's main container port, serving Palu and the surrounding regencies connected by road.

The port is managed by PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 4, and containers are handled at TPK Pantoloan, operated by Pelindo Terminal Petikemas. Most cargo comes on domestic services linking Palu with Surabaya, Jakarta and Makassar, carrying consumer goods, building materials and project supplies, while outbound loads are the region's agricultural and plantation produce.

Pantoloan's UN/LOCODE is IDPTL. The Palu area was hit by a major earthquake and tsunami in 2018, so risk planning and cargo insurance deserve a place in shipment plans for the region. Cargo owners should note that domestic sailings are usually weekly, prepare documents before the cut-off and calculate loads carefully to make full use of container space.
