IDSRG Indonesia Seaport Airport

Tanjung Emas (Semarang)

Semarang, Jawa Tengah

About the port

Tanjung Emas Port is in North Semarang and is Central Java's main sea gateway. It serves exporters from the industrial estates of Semarang, Kendal and Demak and from inland cities such as Solo, so it is often a closer alternative to shipping through Tanjung Priok or Tanjung Perak.

The port is managed by PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 3. Containers are handled at TPK Semarang, operated by Pelindo Terminal Petikemas, while non-container cargo is served by the Pelindo Multi Terminal branch at Tanjung Emas. On 14 March 2026 four new quay container cranes arrived at TPK Semarang, bringing the total to ten. In 2024 the terminal recorded 766,914 TEU of international and 128,990 TEU of domestic container throughput.

Semarang's UN/LOCODE is IDSRG, listed by UNECE with port, road, airport and postal functions. Much of Central Java's furniture, textile and processed goods leaves in 40-foot high-cube containers, so volume and weight per unit drive the freight cost. Coastal Semarang is also prone to tidal flooding, so build buffer time into delivery schedules to depots and the terminal.
