IDKDI Indonesia Seaport Airport

Kendari New Port (Bungkutoko)

Kendari, Sulawesi Tenggara

About the port

Kendari New Port is on Bungkutoko Island at the mouth of Kendari Bay, Southeast Sulawesi. The terminal was built to move container operations out of the old, shallower port inside the bay, and it was opened around May 2016 by the then Transport Minister, Ignasius Jonan.

The port is managed by PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 4, and container services are handled at TPK Kendari, operated by Pelindo Terminal Petikemas. Southeast Sulawesi is known for nickel mining and processing, so inbound cargo includes not only consumer goods but also spare parts, equipment and materials for that industry.

Kendari's UN/LOCODE is IDKDI. If you ship industrial equipment or project cargo, check each unit's dimensions and weight against the container types on offer, such as open top or flat rack, and against the terminal's handling gear. Some industrial estates in the province have their own special terminals, so confirm whether goods will be discharged at Kendari's public port or at such a terminal. For consumer goods, domestic services from Surabaya and Makassar are the main option; plan orders around sailing frequency.
